Teach guitar with Sandbanks Piano School

We bring one-to-one music lessons into homes across Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth — and families keep asking us for guitar lessons. If you’re looking for a guitar teaching job in the Bournemouth and Poole area, we’d love to hear from you.

The role

You’ll teach one-to-one guitar lessons in students’ own homes — 30 and 60-minute sessions, from complete beginners upwards. We handle the bookings, the billing and the diary; you bring the teaching.

Students want everything from first chords and strumming patterns to fingerstyle, classical repertoire and rock lead — you'll meet each player where their taste lives and build technique through music they love.

Hours are flexible and grow with you: start with a handful of students and build towards a full teaching week. Afternoons, early evenings and Saturdays are our busiest times.

What we’re looking for

  • Grade 8+ (RGT, Trinity, Rockschool or equivalent)

You play to at least Grade 8 standard — acoustic, electric or classical. A diploma, music degree, or serious gigging/session experience counts just as much as exam certificates; show us you can really play.

  • Genuinely passionate about music

This is the one we won't compromise on. You light up when you talk about music, and that energy carries into every lesson — beginners hear it, parents see it, students catch it.

  • Full driving licence + your own car

Every lesson is taught in the student's home, so reliable transport across Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, Lilliput, Branksome and nearby Poole is essential.

  • Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain)

Many of our students are children, so an Enhanced DBS check is required before your first lesson. If you don't hold one, we'll guide you through getting it.

  • Patient with all ages and abilities

Our students range from young beginners to adults starting fresh or returning after decades away. You adapt your teaching to the person in front of you, and you're encouraging on the hard days.

We’re an equal-opportunity school: applications are welcome from everyone who meets the requirements above, and candidates are assessed purely on musicianship, teaching ability and character.
